Project 3: PICK MOOD/CONCEPT

1. What appeals to you about your story, and the vision/concept you have for your environment.

-For project 3 I chosen the story "Gift of the Magi" because it's a love story between two people who both sacrifice something valuable in their life in order to make the other person happy. From the "director take" on this, I envision their living environment in a poor living condition. In the story it states the couples are struggling and going through some difficulties with financial problems.

2. Between 3 to 6 adjectives that describe emotions your painting will communicate

-Humble, sweet, hopeful, faithful, gentle, warm.

3. List colors that will communicate those emotions (moods) as well as the dominant shape language and lighting considerations.

-I'll probably use grey, blue, brown, or red using analogous or monochromatic base color. the dominant shape language would be curves and the lighting consideration would be a little dark to show their poor living situation but not too dark because I also want to show the love or faithfulness that lives in their home.

  1. All useful thoughts, Alejandra! They're very much respecting the general tone of the story. That's good. One thing I would suggest is "pushing" one emotion more or one artistic decision farther. What you propose is fine, but I'm encouraging you to express your "voice" louder, to exaggerate more something that matters to you in this illustration so that your art director's vision stands out more. So ask yourself what speaks most to you, and develop that further.
